Sunday mornings can go at a fast and furious pace. If we aren’t strategic, we can miss key relational connections. Gather your team of volunteers for a brief gathering before the serving begins. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion before praying for the day:
During this last meal with his friends, Jesus told his disciples that he was about to leave this earth. He gave them a very important instruction saying, “A new command I give you: Love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35). Jesus made a point to tell these men who had been physically following him for the last three years, how they could KEEP following him once he’d left his earth to return to heaven. How could they do that? To love as He loves. That’s what we need to teach our littlest ones this week. Love is the way we follow Jesus. When it’s hard to love, when the person isn’t acting so loving, when we just don’t feel like it, love is still the best response. If you want to follow Jesus, the number one thing you can do is LOVE. Who can you follow? I can follow Jesus.
