Anyone remember the late night talk show host David Letterman? One of my favorite segments from his show was always the Top Ten. So, in honor of DL, here are my Top Ten reasons to attend OC16.
10 There’s something for everyone. Whether you are new to Orange or a veteran of many years, there are breakouts for you. In the early years I would attend breakouts that helped me hone my philosophy of ministry, learn how to navigate the curriculum, or get ideas on how to create an incredible Sunday experience. Now, in my 11th year of attending, I am getting new ideas on how to make things even better and how to stay on the cutting edge of what is going on in children’s ministry. Hearing directly from the founder, Reggie Joiner, is always a blessing
9 Networking – One of my favorite parts of the Orange Conference is meeting other church leaders and sharing ideas. I have been able to help families who are moving to new areas get plugged in at new churches due to the contacts that I have made at the Orange Conference.
8 Creative ideas and resources – New and creative ideas are always being introduced at Orange. I saw the Phases videos last year and have incorporated them into our baby dedication ceremony. Just that small addition has added so much to our baby dedication experience.
7 Food Trucks! – Hey, who doesn’t love a food truck?!?! Seriously, the staff at Orange make mealtime so convenient and fun!
6 Incredible worship with top-notch worship leaders – As the early childhood pastor at my church, I often find myself getting into service late and missing much of the worship time. At Orange, I get to participate in worship from beginning to end – and no one is calling me on my ear piece to come take care of an issue in the nursery! Can I get an AMEN?!!
5 Team bonding – spending several hours in the car going to and from Atlanta, late nights in the hotel rooms, meal time and break times give us an opportunity to connect with our team in a whole new way. There is nothing like having concentrated time with your team to be able to cast vision and hear their hearts.
4 Inspiration – It is so fun to see team members come out of a breakout or main session fired up and itching to get back home to put some of their new ideas in motion.
3 Connecting with your Orange Specialist – there is nothing like having face to face interactions with the folks who give so much of their time to assist you in ministry. I love having the opportunity to say thank you in person to my specialist, who is always so helpful to me!
2 Freebies – Who doesn’t love a freebie!! I have been the recipient of some terrific freebies over the years, from books, to Frisbees, to my favorite pizza cutter! It is great to have so many vendors to visit and see their products up close.
1 Main session speakers – The speakers for the main sessions are off the charts! Every session leaves me wanting more. I have been blessed to hear from some of the best communicators ever. I am inspired, challenged, blessed and humbled when I hear them share what is on their hearts. They are so honoring of everyone who has committed their lives to shepherding the next generation.
I cannot WAIT to get to OC16 and see what the Lord has in store for me this year!!
