Setting the Stage – Pack a Picnic (April 2019)

God created us to be in a relationship with Him and in relationships with people here on earth. He wants us to have friends, and He wants us to be a good friend. In fact, He wants it so much, God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to show us how to be a good friend and make a way for us to be friends with Him forever.

This month, we hope preschoolers will learn that Jesus is their friend – the best friend they will ever have. If our preschoolers finish this month knowing that Jesus wants to be their friend forever, that is a huge win! That will make it a very Happy Easter!

The Welcome Center and Hallway
It’s time for a picnic! And, what says picnic? Checkered table clothes, picnic baskets, and ants. We provide images of all three in our Environment Art file for you to use in yoru environments this month. Create a park environemnt in your halways with butcher paper trees with picnic baskets spread beneath them. You could even add some colorful paper plates and cups to add some dimension to your decorations.

Use a checkered tablecloth on your welcome center this month to set the tone for the environment. You could use a small picnic basket to hold your supplies. For a fun touch, create a line of plastic ants marching across the table.

The Stage
Bring the picnic theme into your large group area by creating a picnic space. If you have room, add a small picnic table complete with a picnic basket, place settings, and even some play food.
