Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
It’s not always hard to be kind. When someone else is kind first, returning that kindness requires no real work on our part. But when someone is mean, when someone is selfish, when someone is rude or pushy, kindness is HARD. Jesus wanted to make it clear that kindness is for everyone. As you huddle up with your few this week, try to get to the real root of the issue. It’s not about what we think others deserve. It’s about each of us, as followers of God, choosing to be kind to people who are unkind to us simply because God loves them. By choosing kindness, we have the opportunity to shine a bright light in a very dark world and to point others to the One who always extends kindness to us.
