Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
Parents of elementary age kids hear the phrase “Hey, Mom (or Dad) look at me!” on an almost daily basis. The pull of attention is strong with this age. But when it comes to service, Jesus said we shouldn’t seek recognition. We should serve simply because it’s what we’re called to do. But here’s the cool part. When we serve, even if nobody sees us, it’s not really a secret. Our Father in heaven sees all and His approval is so much more important. Let’s remind our kids this week to serve others without applause.
