Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
All month, we’ve been looking at what it means to be generous, to be rich in good deeds, and willing to share. But if we’re honest, sometimes we give for the wrong reasons. Maybe we want others to notice. Maybe we hope if we give now, we’ll be rewarded later. But that’s not what generosity is about. As followers of Jesus, we recognize that everything we have was first GIVEN to us by a very generous God. (Remember all that stewardship stuff we just talked about in October?). It all belongs to him anyway. So let’s help our kids understand that every act of generosity (big or small) is seen by our heavenly Father. When we give, let’s give like we’re giving to God.
