Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
What do we celebrate at Christmas? This isn’t a trick question so go ahead and answer out loud. YES! The day Jesus was born. The day the King of KINGS left heaven to come to earth as a tiny defenseless baby so that we could know Him. And after 33 years of loving, healing, teaching, and serving others, that same King allowed himself to be humiliated, beaten, mocked and crucified on a criminal’s cross. Jesus gave up literally everything so that we could be forgiven. But death wasn’t the end. Because just three days later, Jesus rose from the grave! By this amazing act of humility and love, Jesus made a way for us to have a relationship with God forever. Before you welcome your kids today and the crazy ensues, spend some time thanking Jesus for the sacrifice He made so that you could know him. Today is a day of celebration for sure because [Bottom Line] Jesus put us first.
