It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!
OK, it’s not Christmas.
And, it’s not the day after church camp.
But it’s still a pretty good day because the new FALL SEASON of XP3 High School is out today!
Watch This: Fall 2018 XP3 HS Walkthrough – Facebook Live
Our team is so excited to share what’s been in the works for such a long time. This fall we’re going to be talking about five topics (that’s right, FIVE) that have the potential to challenge your high schoolers thinking and grow their faith. First up?
Sometimes faith feels complicated, but Jesus made it simple. When asked which commandment was the Greatest, He boiled all of them down to a simple but profound idea, Love God and love your neighbor as yourself. In this five-week series, we’ll explore what a single “love” command tells us about God’s character, how to actually love God and our neighbors, and what loving ourselves has to do with any of it. We hope you love this series. We think it’s the Greatest. (See what I did there?)
LIKE A BOSS
Ugh. Authority. Am I right? High schoolers hate it. And honestly? So do we. That’s why this topic is such a big deal. Because at this phase, it can be tempting for a high schooler to think that graduation will solve everything. Cross the stage, move the tassel, and no more having to deal with the people in charge. But dealing with the bosses in life is a skill our students will need long after they’re in our programs. That’s why, in this two-week series, we’ll explore how a high schooler’s faith is connected to the way they see and react to those in charge. And, we’ll talk about how to handle it when an authority figure isn’t exactly acting…well…like a boss.
*SUBJECT TO CHANGE
One of the toughest and most constant parts of life for a high schooler is CHANGE. From ninth grade friendship wars to driving to dating to not dating to thoughts of leaving for college, it can feel like everything in a high schoolers life should come with a warning label that it’s *subject to change. We LOVED partnering with our buddy, Josh Griffin from Download Youth Ministry, to create this series to help students trust that when everything changes, God doesn’t. And He’ll walk with them in every stage of life.
I HAVE QUESTIONS
One BIG change this fall is that we’re releasing a series of standalone talks that speak directly to questions high schoolers have. Our hope is these talks will accomplish two goals:
1. Allow you to tackle some important cultural topics with students.
2. Give you some added flexibility in your scheduling.
So what are the questions this fall?
WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT RACE? In this one-week talk, we’ll discuss why race and racial bias are such a difficult topic in our culture, and we’ll discover how following Jesus means we intentionally learn to see and treat people as He does.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT SELF HARM? It seems nearly every student ministry is dealing with the effects of cutting. And, even if your students aren’t cutting themselves, they know someone who is and they’re all wondering…what do we do about it? That’s why we’ll talk about how hiding grows harm and what to do if you or a friend is cutting. Also, we’ve added some additional resources to help your leaders and parents prepare for the sensitive conversations that may accompany talking about a topic like this one.
