For many students, thinking of Jesus as an actual person from history is a challenging perspective to grasp. Often, they view Jesus more like a character from a fairy tale than a real, living human who experienced many of the same emotions and problems they have.
This perspective often makes it difficult for students to connect with Jesus—to engage in an authentic relationship with Him.
In our new series If / Then, we hope to give students a better idea of who Jesus really is. And to do that we’re going to walk students through several passages from the book of John where Jesus actually gives us the answer! Often times the best way to find out who someone truly is, is to listen to what they have to say about themselves. And that’s exactly what we’re doing in this series—we’re going to look at Jesus’ “I AM” statements.
For those of us who have been in church for a while, we’re prone to skim over many of these statements. But we want to press pause on some of these key passages and carefully unpack each claim that Jesus made about himself. Because if what Jesus said about Himself is true, then these statements have huge implications on all of our lives.
We’re especially excited to release this series with Josh Griffin as its author. Josh is one of the leading voices in student ministry, with over 20 years’ experience, and most recently served as the High School Pastor at Saddleback Church. Josh also co-founded DownloadYouthMinistry.com, has created more than 50 youth ministry resources, and authored several books. Josh knows how to speak to students, which is why we were thrilled when he agreed to partner with XP3 High School on this series.
We believe that this series could truly revolutionize the way a student views Jesus and take their faith in Him to a new, relatable level. Our suggested teaching dates for this series are May 28th, June 4th, and June 11th. If you’re an XP3 High School subscriber, be sure to login to your account to download this series now! We love hearing stories about your students’ growing faith, especially after a series like this. Give us a shout out and let us know what you and your students thought of If / Then!
