A question we have been getting a lot is: What’s the best text messaging service for my student ministry?
This is an excellence question because teenagers text a lot.
The average teenager sends 3,339 Texts Per Month.
So figuring out how to best text your students is a big deal.
We polled our XP3 community asking them by texting service they use and here’s what they said.
Some suggested:
Obviously, our favorite is the Lead Small app. The app help leaders stay in touch with their group by keeping everyone’s photo, info and prayer requests all in one place. And you can also send group texts, too!

I use Ministry Tracker Pro Text and have used EZ Texting. Both work well, but Ministry Tracker is a comprehensive church management/youth ministry management solution so it does much more then just text. Would recommend it for any youth ministry at a church that either doesn’t have a church management software solution or for para-church youth ministries. Fairly economic solution and very robust software.
We use app.msgtek.com. Its a simple process for students to sign up and gives our church a real phone number for students to signup with (Not a shortcode). That way we can make the group codes things that make sense to us (like text college to XXX-XXX-XXXX for updates). It’s a signup by choice system so they can start or stop at any moment without our management. I highly recommend it. The owner is a christian and gives great support to the product.
I can’t believe that Remind.com was not mentioned. I’ve use MANY different txt services, even ones that charge a subscription or per text fee. Remind.com is FREE & the absolute best I’ve used! It was developed as a free tool for school teachers but its application for youth ministry is genius!! They even have iOS & Android apps.
I second this… We have been using Remind for years now and its perfect for a 500+ member church!
I agree! How does Remind not get on the list? That’s insane!
Remind101 – free
Download Youth Min has a great one.
I’ve tried all of these on the list and a lot of them are really clunky and time consuming.
I have used lead small and ministry tracker and still love remind 101 but right I’m loving Minhub. It’s does all of the above and syncs your students across devices via Dropbox.
hi!
What about using free services for informing students?
I’ve got a chat in Vider with my students, we contact and share all the information and teaching materials for free. As I understand all the mentioned services are paid, no?
Hey! thanks for advice! I was just thinking of some app or so to add more innovation to communication with my pupils))
