Sunday mornings can go at a fast and furious pace. If we aren’t strategic, we can miss key relational connections. Gather your team of volunteers for a brief gathering before the serving begins. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion before praying for the day:
Feet. They’re stinky. And dirty. And also there’s toe jam. GROSS. When you think about how dirty your feet could get, multiply that by twenty. Because back in Jesus’ day, feet were really nasty. That’s why you couldn’t enter someone’s home for dinner without first getting your feet washed. But everyone back then knew that feet washing was a servant’s job. Still, here is where we find Jesus, down on his hands and knees, washing the feet of his closest friends because He loved them. No task was too menial or unimportant for Jesus. What a GOOD friend. Let’s help our kids understand this week that Jesus is my friend.
As your leaders prepare to leave, ask them the key question and say the bottom line together.
