Setting the Stage – Campout (October 2018)

There are a lot of things in life that the children we teach, their moms and dads, our friends, just can’t do. That’s right. Sometimes we just don’t have it. We don’t have a handle on our circumstances. We don’t have what it takes to makes things better. We don’t have the answers, energy, wisdom, patience, solution, or way out of a situation.

But, we do know the One who does. And, when you know the One who does, there’s no need to worry. God’s got it. That’s what we’re talking about with our preschoolers this month. No need to worry, be afraid, or feel alone. God’s got it!

The Welcome Center and Hallway
We’re going camping this month! Fill your hallways with camping gear, pictures of tents, campfires, and more. Hang stars from the ceiling to represent a night spent under the stars. Use butcher paper to put trees on the walls. You can even create a tent with butcher paper to place under the trees. Don’t forget to check out our environment art for pictures you can use.

Cover your welcome center table with a brown tablecloth or butcher paper. Create a fun pinecone centerpiece or even a bouquet of marshmallows on sticks to add a pop of the camping scene. Add red, yellow, and orange leaves to your pens for a fun accent.

The Stage
Here is where the true camping experience can shine. Use a small pop-up tent as your primary focal point. Make a pretend campfire, and then fill in the additional space with fake greenery and camping equipment.
