Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
This month is all about honesty – choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do. Raise your hand if you’ve ever lied to get something you wanted. Okay, maybe don’t raise your hand. The truth is, we’ve all been tempted and most of us probably have done this somewhere along the way. The real problem is that dishonesty leads to distrust. When we choose to lie or fudge the truth, it erodes the trust we’ve built with others. And once that happens, it’s really hard to earn that trust back. As you prepare for lead your group today, ask God to show you the areas of your life where you need an honesty check. If you need to ask for forgiveness so you can begin to rebuild that trust, do it. Ask God to give you the courage you need to be honest with others so you can prove you are trustworthy.
