Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
Jeremiah 23:24 says, “Who can hide in secret places so that I can’t see them?” announces the Lord. “Don’t I fill heaven and earth?” announces the Lord. The truth is, no one can hide from God. But this reality isn’t meant to scare us into obedience. Because God loves us with an everlasting, ever present, ever pursuing kind of love. When we choose to be honest with God and confess our wrongs to him, instead of extending judgment or wrath, he will always offer forgiveness. And those moments of honesty and confession draw us closer to him. As you prepare to lead your group today, ask God to help you see the hidden areas of your own life. Confess what needs to be confessed, knowing that your honesty will draw you closer to the one who loves you most. Because being truthful with God helps keep you close to Him.
