Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
When you’re at your lowest, when life just keeps throwing punches and you can’t seem to get a foothold, what do you do? Do you shake your fist to the heavens and insist that God change your circumstances? Or do you choose to trust and find opportunities to praise God in the midst of the hard stuff? The truth is, in this world we WILL have trouble. Certainly it won’t be the “thrown in prison for telling others about Jesus” kind of trouble that Paul and Silas faced. While we cannot change the circumstances, we can choose joy in the midst of trouble. Part of perseverance is understanding that no matter what happens, God is still in control and He is good. His purposes will stand even if our world seems turned upside down. [Bottom Line] You can choose joy when life gets hard.
