Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
This month is all about self-control: choosing what you should do even when you don’t want to. We’ve all witnessed the tantrum throwing two-year old or the huffing, eye rolling teenager. But what about the adult who is out of control? Like the guy who screams in traffic or the family member hiding behind a mountain of credit card debt. The truth is, an out of control adult isn’t nearly as “cute” as the two-year old who screams for dessert. Let’s teach our kids from the start to have self-control so they’ll be safe and avoid years of hurt. Let’s help them rely on God when they’re tempted to choose what they want to do over what they should do.
