Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
This week, our focus shifts from reading God’s word to talking to him in prayer. In simplest terms, reading God’s word is how we HEAR from Him. It’s how God speaks to us. Prayer is how we TALK to God. And the coolest part is that God doesn’t punch a clock. We don’t have to wait to talk to him between the hours of 8 and 5. He is always there, ready to listen to things that are on our hearts and minds. Yes, we bow our heads to thank God for our food, or pray on the way to school or before we go to bed. But we can also talk to God when we’re scared, or sad or joyful or just indifferent. Prayer isn’t always automatic. It takes commitment. That’s why we should PRACTICE praying to God.
