Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
Sometimes it’s hardest to be kind and loving and patient with the people closest to us, isn’t it? Maybe it’s because we know that they love us and will always forgive us. Maybe it’s because we’re with them more often allowing more opportunities for them to drive us bonkers. Maybe it’s because we feel free to be less careful with our words and actions. Whatever the reason, we need to remember that kindness starts by treating the people closest to us the best. Think of kindness like the ripples created when you throw a rock into the water. When you can learn to consistently show kindness to the people closest to you – like your family and friends – then that kindness will spread out to everyone, just like those circles in a pond. So remember: be kind to your family and friends this week.
