Volunteer Pre-Service Pep Talk for December 9

Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:

Imagine for a minute what it must have been like for Mary, a young woman of little means, with no power or authority or status to speak of. Suddenly an angel appears to tell her that God has chosen her to help usher in the greatest rescue plan of all time. Do you think for one second that she felt worthy, or capable or READY for such an important role? Nope. Mary was none of those things. But she was WILLING. The same is true for us. God can use anyone to meet others’ needs. We don’t have to feel ready or “called” or enough, we just simply need to be willing. As you prepare to lead your group this week, pray for each of your kids by name. Grab your roster and pray the following prayer, placing each kid’s name in the blank: “God, use ____________ to meet other’s needs.”

Lead your team in prayer and have a great Sunday!
