Sunday mornings are like game day for children’s ministry. Just like any good coach, gather your team of volunteers for a pre-game pep talk. Answer any questions about the curriculum and ask for prayer requests. Then read the following devotion to kick the morning off:
This month is all about compassion – caring enough to do something about someone else’s need. God certainly showed compassion for us when we chose to send Jesus to rescue us! Our sin separated us from Him and there was no way for us to fix that separation on our own. So God sent Jesus to live a perfect life, experiencing all that we experience, to die a painful death on the cross and to be raised on the third day to defeat the power of sin and rescue all who believe in Him. Because He LOVED us so much, God did something about our greatest need. As you sit around circle rugs this week, let’s help kids understand this compassion and just how far reaching it is. God’s compassion should compel us to meet the needs of the people around us too.
