One Thing We Can Do

There is no denying the health of a parent’s marriage affects their children. We’ve seen when families endure tough times and their kids behavior changes. And we’ve noticed the kids whose families are in a strong season. Sometimes, it can feel like so much of children’s ministry is simply reacting to a kid’s home situation.

But what if there was one thing we could do to help parents have stronger marriages? The good news is, there is! We can offer parents the opportunity for a great date night! And it can make a big difference.

The National Marriage Project, conducted through the University of Virginia, found that “husbands and wives who engaged in couple time with their mates at least once a week were approximately three and a half times more likely to report being “very happy” in their marriages, compared to those who enjoyed less quality time with their spouse. The study goes on to say, “It is important for us to underscore our belief that the value of date nights will also vary by the quality of those dates, with high-quality dates being the most efficacious.”
