None of us will forget watching pictures of Hurricane Sandy crashing into the East Coast. The devastation she left in her wake is overwhelming. I continue to be amazed by the stories I hear of people living without what I consider the bare necessities. I pray daily for those who were affected by the storm.
Most of us will never experience a disaster of that magnitude, but our hearts break every time we see pictures come across our TV and computer screens. We want to DO something. We are wired by our heavenly Father to DO something. And, many of us have. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to DO.
Whenever disaster strikes, one of the first things our Orange Specialists do is reach out to churches that might have been affected. We usually discover one or two that need help. This time is no different.
One of our partners, CenterPoint Church, is located in one of the hardest hit areas. The entire building was flooded and the basement “filled up like a swimming pool.” In addition to repairing their own building, CenterPoint is reaching out to the community to help others by partnering with Samaritan’s Purse.
They sent us pictures of the damage that was done to their facility, and we wanted to share them with you.
This was their children’s environment before.
This is it after the storm.
Construction is already underway, but we all know that you can build a room, but it will stand empty until you fill it with supplies.
That’s where we come in.
CenterPoint Church has started an Amazon Wish List filled with things they need to help them stock their space. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could supply everything they needed—and then some? Jonelle, the director of children’s ministries says that what supplies they gather they are sharing with others in need.
Let’s help them out!
Click on over to Amazon and see what you can ship to them. I just sent some big people scissors.
